About Melissa
Melissa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate who works with adolescents, adults, and families. She specializes in treating depression, anxiety disorders, behavioral concerns, stress management, and self-esteem and identity issues.
Melissa has a genuine care , non-judgmental attitude and unconditional positive regard that serves to enhance the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. She uses many types of therapeutic techniques (CBT, Strength-Based, MI, etc.) that focus on your natural strengths and needs. Her goal is to ensure that therapy is a safe space and a collaborative journey that acknowledges each client's strengths, skills and individual needs. In addition to helping clients navigate the challenges life throws their way.
Melissa received her Bachelors of Social Work and Masters of Social Work from The University of North Carolina- Pembroke. While in college she served the Robeson County community; working with families and children involved with the child welfare system. She is a Wilmington native and returned home after finishing graduate school. She has served the Wilmington community for the past eight years working in various roles. She spent recent years leading a treatment team of counselors while providing direct therapy services to children and families in an Intensive In-Home setting. Melissa’s true passion is to make a difference in the community that grew up in.
